How to visit Bukit Tinggi/Berjaya Hills, Colmar Tropicale?
If you are travelling from Kuala Lumpur, it would take around an hour to reach Bukit Tinggi/Berjaya Hills, Colmar Tropicale.
If you are driving here from Kuala Lumpur, you will need to drive on the MRR2 Highway all the way to Gombak, which is where the Karak Highway starts towards the East Coast & Bukit Tinggi.
You will then need to follow the signboards to Genting Highlands and pass through a toll before embarking on your journey up the windy mountain roads. There will be an exit to Berjaya Hills on the left, roughly 8km later so make sure not to miss it.
Follow the road until you pass the guardhouse, and then continue driving until you see a ticket booth which is around 6km away.
The roads will then split up at a T-junction whereby the left lane will lead towards the Japanese Garden and the right lane will take you to Colmar Tropicale resort.
We suggest visiting the Colamar Tropicale resort first as you can expect huge crowds to come in the late afternoon.

2. Climb to the top of Colmar Tropicale’s tower
Located at the end of Colmar Tropicale’s French village, the castle’s tower is the best place to get a bird’s eye view of Bukit Tinggi/Berjaya Hills. To get up to the view point, you will have to scale up a flight of stairs which might be a little bit tiring for some, but the view at the top is definitely worth it.
3. Visit the World’s First Japanese Tea House in the Tropical Rainforest
Located 10 minutes from Colmar Tropicale is the Japanese Village. The Japanese Village comprises of a tea house, botanical gardens, koi ponds and rock pools for visitors to explore. The main highlight of the Japanese Village is the Japanese Tea House which is the first of its kind in a tropical rainforest. Both the Japanese Tea House and the Botanical Gardens are open daily from 9.30am – 5pm.
Before reaching the Japanese Village, you will be required to walk uphill another 5-10 minutes from the carpark/shuttle drop off.
If you’ve always wanted to try out the kimono, then you’re in luck as the Japanese Tea House provides kimono rentals for a small fee of RM20. You can use the kimonos and take as many photos as you like at the tea house.
Besides that, you can also participate in the Japanese tea ritual which is conducted several times daily at the tea house.
4. Take a stroll at the Botanical Garden – Japanese Village
Also located at the Japanese village is the Botanical Garden which has a 1 km trail around the the park. Take a stroll here and enjoy the lush greenery of the flowers, exotic plants and herbs.
5. Dine at the Ryo Zan Tei Japanese Restaurant
After doing all that walking around, why not stop by for some lunch at the Ryo Zan Tei Japanese restaurant, which is also located at the Botanical Garden. Open from 12pm – 5pm, Ryo Zan Tei is the only Japanese restaurant in Malaysia located 3,500ft above sea level in the tropical rainforest of Bukit Tinggi/Berjaya Hills.
