Discovering Kuala Lumpur in 3 Days : Where To Go?

Kuala Lumpur is the largest and also capital city of Malaysia, home to a multi-racial nation. In this post, we break down the places we think you should check out while you are in Kuala Lumpur. To get to Kuala Lumpur you can take a bus/train/taxi from the airport of arrival which is either KLIA 1 or KLIA 2 (depending on which airline you are using). The fastest way is via the KLIA Ekspres which takes approximately 28 minutes from the airports to the city.

Day 1

For the first day, we suggest you start with exploring the iconic Petronas Twin Tower in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Standing tall at a height of 452 metres, the Petronas Twin Towers is currently the world’s tallest twin tower building. Depending on which area of Kuala Lumpur you stay, getting here is quite simple, you could either walk or take a taxi/Grab here. The tickets can be bought online and bear in mind that these slots are always difficult to get last minute, so make sure you make your reservations early Petronas Twin Towers

After exploring the park, we headed back inside to Aquaria KLCC which is one of the top 5 aquariums in Asia. The aquarium features a 90 metre tunnel walkway whereby sharks, stingrays, turtles and fishes can be seen up close. The best time to come here is during the feeding time which can be found on Aquaria’s website Aquaria KLCC. Be sure to pre book the tickets early as the line can also be long during weekends and school holidays.

On the second day, we headed to Sunway Lagoon which is a 30 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur. Sunway Lagoon is one of Malaysia’s best theme park and compromises of 6 parks – Water Park, Amusement Park, Wildlife Park, Extreme Park, Scream Park and Nickelodeon Lost Lagoon. The park is located at Sunway City which is also home to Sunway Pyramid shopping mall and Sunway Hotel and Resort.

We spent the whole day at Sunway Lagoon, first starting off with the dry rides and picture taking. As the weather got hotter, we then proceeded to keep our stuff at the locker and headed for the wet rides.

Slide away !

There are plenty of cafés and booths along the park for you to choose from, so finding food here is not a problem. If you are feeling adventurous, head over to the suspension bridge which is the longest in Malaysia, to get a bird’s eye view of the whole theme park. You can even bungee jump or try out the Flying Fox while you’re here. The suspension bridge connects the water park to the lost lagoon park, covering approximately 428 metres. We ended the day with a hearty dinner at Sunway Pyramid before heading back home.

Day 3
The next day we decided to have a more laid back trip and headed to the IOI City Mall in Putrajaya for a little bit of grocery shopping and also ice-skating. So far these were the places that we managed to cover while we were at Kuala Lumpur. In our next post, we will be sharing on our road trip to the historical city of Malacca.
